#6: Bad Medicine

“Modern medicine, for all its advances, knows less than 10 percent of what your body knows instinctively.” - Deepak Chopra

It doesn’t matter where you are, as soon as the temperature starts to cool, cold and flu season begins. You begin to notice sniffles and coughs. If you have kids you make them wash their hands (and everything else) as soon as they get home from school. The ads for cold medicines start running and the Flu shot debates start appearing across social media. We are taught early to head to the drug store at the first sign of illness. Urgent Cares start to fill up as soon as they open.

When I was a kid my sister and I were always sick. Sore throats, strep throat, bronchitis...Whatever was going around, we had it. For me, I always felt worse after taking whatever medicine was given to me. I was told it was all in my head. Turns out, it was in my entire body. I was actually allergic to most medications as well as aspirin and ibuprofen. Once I realized this, life became easier. I lived in New York so finding natural and holistic remedies and alternative medicine was relatively easy. I vowed that when I had a child I would not do what was done to me (unless absolutely necessary).

Luckily I have a pretty healthy kid who is rarely sick. I discovered garlic oil for ear infections and honey for sore throats. We follow a pretty healthy diet and avoid fast food most of the time. The other day my daughter had a friend over who asked me for Advil because she had cramps. When we told her we didn’t have anything like that she looked at me like I was crazy. Then she joked that her house was like a mini CVS. She said her family was always sick. My daughter told her that she couldn’t remember the last time she was sick. I couldn’t either. It made me wonder if all that medicine is actually making people sicker.

There is no doubt that much of the over the counter medication available to us affects our microbiomes. People seem to be sick all the time. We (collectively) are more depressed and anxious. Cancer and other debilitating illnesses are increasing at an alarming rate. Addiction to opioids is out of control. We are literally sick and tired. Something has to give and soon.

These negative correlations have become more clear to me since beginning my journey with BiomeTech. I have been learning more and more about the importance of the microbiome, and how it impacts all aspects of being. This is something I’m going to continue to explore over the next few months. After I started my sprays (Aqua Calm, SAM, Oxygen, NG1, G5, TQ Plus and Ananda) I noticed an overall improvement in my sleep, skin, attitude and demeanor. I am excited to be a part of something that can change the way people heal. If my personal experience is any indication of what BiomeTech can do, the future looks pretty healthy.

I hope you continue to follow my progress and see what we can do as the new decade rolls on!
